“I have always lived life on my own terms.“
Early Days
Lydia Bouzaid spent her early years traveling around the world, From the time she was a teenager she often traveled alone, she learned that with a little imagination there were no limits to what one could do, with no shortage of antics, heartbreak and joy along the way.
“Nautical” has been a cornerstone of her life. From sailing on a small yacht to Tahiti in her twenties, to racing the Bermuda Race on her own boat or crossing the Pacific and Atlantic, she has survived a shipwreck and on more than one occasion found herself overboard.
Lydia received a Batchelor’s degree in coastal geology from Boston College. However, just to shake things up, she quit science to spend more time sailing while restoring antique homes in Newport Rhode Island. When the real estate market crashed she became a fundraiser for a professional sailing team. While living all over the world, she has also been a fundraiser, a futures trader, and a decorative painter. As an author, her stories often reflect the experiences of her varied careers and colorful life.
Writing
Always a sucker for a good romance novel, her favorites authors include Danielle Steel, Barbara Taylor Bradford and Jane Austin. She confesses to giggling anytime she is writing a love scene. Her husband however doesn’t complain. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s sailing or watching historical romance on television. She can often be found dreaming up her next character or writing while while cruising around the world, in glamorous hotels on foreign adventures with her granddaughters, or at home in her modern antique filled farmhouse.
Lydia is the wife of New Zealand sailing legend Chris Bouzaid and the grandmother of seven. She and her husband share their home in coastal Maine with two adorable and rambunctious labradors.
In her debut novel Willful Blindness is a different romance where both the hero and heroine have endearing flaws.
